Four Corners. Four Wings.
A handleless tea cup in a form unlike anything else in the collection — square in plan, its four corners extended into small projecting wing-tabs that echo the silhouette of a butterfly in flight, its walls flaring dramatically outward from a narrow base to a wide open mouth.
Form & Decoration
A square-section cup in high-white porcelain, its profile an inverted trapezoid — narrow at the foot, wide at the rim. Each of the four corners is drawn out into a small flat wing-tab, the edges clean and architectural. The four main faces of the exterior each carry one or two hand-painted butterflies: a large monarch in warm orange-red on the front face, a smaller gold-toned specimen beside it. The interior is entirely plain white. No handle, no rim line — the form and the butterflies are the only decoration.
