Named after the mythical wind that carries the roc ten thousand li upward, the Fuyao plate arrives at the table with the quiet authority of something that has already decided it belongs there.

Form & Decoration

An ultra-flat disc in deep midnight blue glaze — its surface pressed with concentric water-ripple rings that radiate from the centre like the surface of a still pond disturbed by a single drop. The glaze absorbs light rather than reflecting it, giving the plate a depth that shifts between navy, slate, and near-black depending on the angle. Against this ground, two circular gold medallions are placed asymmetrically toward the rim — each one filled with densely rendered gourd vine and floral motifs in burnished gold, their edges crisp and deliberate. A third medallion breaks the rim at the opposite side, partially cropped as if the composition continues beyond the plate’s edge. A fine gold line traces the perimeter, completing the piece with the restraint of a single brushstroke.
