A cylinder of hand-painted blue-and-white sealed with a plain cobalt dome — the contrast between the two is the entire design.

Form & Decoration

A straight-sided cylindrical jar in glossy ivory porcelain, its body covered in hand-painted cobalt blue lotus scroll — dense, continuous, framed above and below by a pair of clean blue border lines. The lid is a low dome in deep Ji-blue glaze, entirely undecorated — its surface smooth and glossy, the colour a rich, saturated cobalt that reads as a solid plane against the patterned body beneath. At the apex, a single mirror-polished gold sphere knob completes the composition.
