Wide, Low, and Impossible to Ignore.
Where most covered bowls rise, this one spreads — a wide, shallow disc of a vessel that commands the table through breadth rather than height, its peony scroll unrolling across an unusually generous canvas.
Form & Decoration
A wide-mouthed bowl in glossy ivory porcelain, its profile dramatically flat — the diameter nearly three times the height, the rim flaring outward in the Song dynasty manner. The surface is covered in hand-painted cobalt blue peony scroll, the vine continuous and dense, the blooms large and open. The lid mirrors the bowl’s wide, low profile exactly, its centre rising to a cylindrical rose-gold knob — mirror-polished, its interior catching and reflecting the room. A fine gold line traces the rim of both bowl and lid, completing the composition.
