Form & Decoration

An oval porcelain set in three parts: a deep serving bowl with two cloud-head cutout handles on either side — the openings shaped like Ruyi heads, negative space rather than solid grip; a domed lid with a small diamond-form gold-rimmed knob at the apex; and a wide, flat oval charger that receives both. The bowl and lid interiors are plain high-white. The decoration runs as a continuous band around the lid shoulder and charger rim — an extraordinarily fine gold thread lattice of overlapping arcs, dense as woven silk, with a single cobalt blue line tracing the outer edge and a fine gold line at the very rim.
