Amber Light Through Ancient Glass.
Place a flame inside and the room changes. The amber glass holds the light and slows it — warming everything it touches, casting the iron lattice shadow across the table in a pattern borrowed from a garden wall.
The Amber Glass Shade
A hand-blown cylinder in deep amber borosilicate glass — its walls slightly convex at the centre, narrowing gently at the top and base in the manner of a classical Chinese storage jar. The colour is pure translucent amber: honey at the rim, deep cognac at the base, shifting with the thickness of the glass. A circular wood-grain disc is set into the base interior, visible through the glass as a warm, striated medallion. Each piece is blown by hand — the wall thickness and colour depth vary slightly between items.
The Cast Iron Lattice Stand
A low, circular pedestal in dark cast iron, its body pierced with a continuous band of Ruyi cloud-head motifs — the classical Chinese auspicious form, here rendered in negative space. The stand is heavy and stable, its patinated surface absorbing light rather than reflecting it, grounding the warm amber above with the weight of something old.
