A Sea Urchin, Suspended in Glass.
One of the most arresting objects you can place on a table — a vessel that looks as if it was pulled directly from the ocean floor and frozen mid-motion, every spine intact.
The Hand-Blown Glass Sea Urchin Cup
A compact hemisphere in clear borosilicate glass, its surface erupting with dozens of hand-pulled spines that radiate outward in every direction — long, tapered, and sharp at the tip, each one drawn by hand while the glass was still molten. At the crown, a cluster of shorter curved tendrils rises upward like antennae caught mid-reach. From above, the spines fan out across the saucer beneath like a starburst. From the side, the piece reads as pure sculpture. No two are identical — the length, angle, and density of each spine varies with the glassblower’s hand.
The Tengyun Saucer
A wide, flat disc in deep blue-grey glaze, its broad rim smooth and undecorated, its centre pressed with a shallow circular recess that holds the sea urchin base steady. A fine gold line traces the outer rim — the only ornament, and the right one.
